Job Purpose
Responsible for growing assets and liabilities (deposits) from agribusiness value chains for the Agri-Wholesale department, advising on business strategy, and supporting branch officers and managers in recruiting and maintaining Agri-Wholesale customers to drive business growth.
Main Responsibilities:
- Drive Agri-Wholesale growth and value through identification and development of new commercial engagements.
- Manage existing customer relationships through regular visits and ensure customer needs are addressed promptly.
- Market Agri-Wholesale products, process and assess credit applications, and monitor performance of Agri-loan products against set targets while ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Develop business cases and proposals for new commercial propositions, renewals, and relationship maintenance across agriculture value chains.
- Actively mobilize deposits, lend, and cross-sell other bank products such as Forex, SWL, Internet Banking, and Bancassurance.
- Lead Agri-Wholesale activities through networking and supporting branches and branch managers in portfolio growth.
- Collaborate with departments across the bank to deliver excellent customer experience.
- Guide branches and zones in identifying and maintaining Agri-deals.
- Coordinate with the credit department to review and defend applications at Wholesale CREDCO and BCC for approval.
- Monitor portfolio performance daily to resolve challenges and maintain PAR and NPL at acceptable levels.
- Ensure adherence to operational controls, risk management, and compliance guidelines.
- Represent Agri-Wholesale in departmental activities when required.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of agriculture value chains and financing solutions.
- Excellent knowledge of agriculture sector dynamics, seasonality, and Tanzanian laws.
- Familiarity with global trade and supply chain linkages.
- Ability to adapt to sectoral changes in business and marketing environments.
- Solid knowledge of banking operations and financial markets in Tanzania.
- Proficiency in computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
- Technical skills in structuring agribusiness solutions.
- Strong communication, risk management, credit analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal, networking, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated, innovative, and capable of driving change.
- Strong customer relationship management with solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Banking, Business Administration, Finance, or related fields.
- Minimum of 4 years’ banking experience with relationship management of large corporates.
