About Silverleaf Academy

Silverleaf Academy is a chain of affordable private pre-primary and primary schools in Tanzania, educating children aged 2–14. Our mission is to provide lower-middle-income families in Tanzania with the highest quality education at the most affordable fees. Using the national Tanzanian curriculum, Silverleaf schools deploy an inclusive, tech-supported curriculum inside every classroom and adopt an innovative team-teaching approach with continuous in-service training.

Our schools are designed to build strong academic competencies as well as life, leadership, and learning skills. Silverleaf currently operates five campuses in Arusha and Kilimanjaro regions, serving about 1,000 students from Pre-primary to Grade 7. By January 2026, the target is to grow the campuses to over 1,500 students.

Overview of the Role

The School Principal is responsible for transforming Silverleaf Academy into the leading and most highly-performing school in the region. This role oversees a thriving and positive school culture, academic excellence, enrollment growth, health and safety, team development, and school sustainability. The goal is for students to graduate with strong academic achievements and essential leadership, entrepreneurial, and life skills.

Key Responsibilities

School Culture and Team Development

  • Create, communicate, and implement a yearly culture vision and plan.
  • Develop a measurable plan to ensure teammates adhere to Silverleaf values.
  • Lead cultural activities, rituals, and professional development.
  • Conduct regular cultural, academic, and technology walkthroughs.
  • Host weekly data meetings, professional development, and coaching sessions.
  • Oversee performance appraisals and provide feedback to staff.

Student Experience: Academics, Development, and Co-curriculars

  • Develop and implement a yearly student experience plan.
  • Set academic targets with the Director of Schools and Head Teacher.
  • Conduct data analysis meetings to monitor student progress.
  • Create intervention programs for struggling students.
  • Organize parent-teacher meetings and student leadership activities.
  • Ensure implementation of curriculum, SEL programs, and wellness initiatives.
  • Oversee positive behavior practices, child protection, and boarding safety.
  • Monitor and support co-curricular and extracurricular programs.

School Sustainability and Operations

  • Lead weekly meetings with operations and marketing departments.
  • Implement strategies for student retention and admissions efficiency.
  • Ensure enrollment and retention targets are met.
  • Oversee adherence to the school budget and financial targets.
  • Monitor procurement, resource utilization, and operational efficiency.

Community Engagement

  • Create and implement a parent engagement strategy.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents on non-academic issues.
  • Organize parent workshops, quarterly meetings, and community events.
  • Develop partnerships with NGOs, businesses, and government bodies.
  • Establish parent advisory committees and feedback channels.
  • Build relationships with local leaders and foster community support.

Compliance and Legal

  • Establish systems for reporting and addressing compliance breaches.
  • Enforce child protection and safeguarding policies.
  • Ensure up-to-date registration and licensing with education authorities.
  • Oversee health, safety, and risk assessments for school activities.
  • Partner with the legal unit to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree or Master’s in Education, School Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of leadership experience in a school setting.
  • Proven ability in managing school operations, budgets, and resources.
  • Experience overseeing curriculum implementation and improving academic results.
  • Strong background in team leadership and staff development.
  • Track record of fostering parent and community relationships.
  • Experience supporting school enrollment growth and student retention.
  • Proficiency in educational technologies and administrative software.
  • Knowledge of educational laws, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
