CBM (Christoffel Blindenmission / Christian Blind Mission) is an international NGO with over 100 years of global experience in improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in the world’s poorest communities. Its vision is to create an inclusive world in which all persons with disabilities enjoy their human rights and achieve their full potential.

In Tanzania, CBM partners with local organizations to deliver inclusive health and community development programmes that empower persons with disabilities, strengthen their voice, and improve access to healthcare, education, and livelihoods.

CBM Tanzania is seeking a committed and experienced Board Member with professional expertise in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Program Management to join its leadership team. This is a voluntary position that provides the opportunity to contribute strategically to one of the world’s leading disability-inclusive development organizations and help shape inclusive growth in Tanzania.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance and expertise to advance CBM Tanzania’s mission.
  • Ensure strong governance, accountability, and compliance with Tanzanian law.
  • Support strategic growth, financial planning, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Act as an ambassador for CBM Tanzania in relevant networks and sectors.
  • Contribute to organizational strategy and decision-making at the Board level.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and events to strengthen organizational impact.

Qualifications

  • Professional expertise in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Program Management (essential).
  • At least 10 years of professional experience, including governance or leadership exposure.
  • Knowledge of disability inclusion, international development, or related fields (desirable).
  • Ability to analyse management and financial reports and provide strategic input.
  • Strong interpersonal, advocacy, and networking skills.
  • Commitment to CBM’s vision, values, and safeguarding standards.

Time Commitment

  • Attendance at four quarterly Board Meetings per year (2–3 hours each).
  • Participation in the Annual General Meeting and strategy workshops.
  • Occasional field visits and networking events.
  • Total estimated commitment: approximately 10 days per year.
  • Board terms are for three years, renewable once based on Board needs.
