Position: Medical Data Processing Officer
Reports to: Epidemiology Activity Manager
Location: Liwale

Main Purpose:

The role involves carrying out medical data collection and entry activities into the GBS study database, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timely reporting to support decision-making for the medical team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform data entry of epidemiological information into the study database and generate reports.
  • Ensure all entered data is authorized and backed with proper documentation.
  • Maintain accuracy and completeness of collected data, identifying and correcting errors.
  • File documents according to MSF standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare workers for proper patient registration and data collection.
  • Assist in preparing and compiling regular reports for medical and laboratory teams.
  • Enter study-related data collected in Liwale Health Centre and Liwale District Hospital into the provided databases.
  • Report data inconsistencies and protocol breaches to supervisors promptly.
  • Ensure confidentiality and secure storage of all data collection forms.
  • Provide simple statistical summaries when required.
  • Track study participants’ follow-up in collaboration with study midwives and supervisors.
  • Support proper filing and organization of study forms.

Qualifications:

  • Higher education in Data Management, Information Technology, or Mathematics.
  • Proven computer literacy.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data capturing, monitoring, or evaluation.
  • Experience in hospital or healthcare settings is an added advantage.

Knowledge:

  • Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, and internet use.
  • Ability to learn and use data recording software (Kobo, Redcap, DHIS2, EpiInfo, etc.).
