Position: HSEC Coordinator

Reporting to: Exploration Manager – Tanzania

Location: Dodoma
Purpose of the Role
This is a full-time, permanent position with roster-based travel to the company’s exploration projects across Tanzania. The HSEC Coordinator will lead and advise the Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) functions in accordance with statutory requirements and company standards. The role focuses on promoting a zero-harm culture, sustainable development, and minimizing the impact of exploration activities while supporting operational excellence and compliance.
Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in HSEC fields or other relevant/complementary qualifications.
- Relevant experience with Management System Internal Audit Trainings.
- Understanding of safety and health management systems and their practical implementation.
- Knowledge of protocols and requirements for maintaining a license to operate in Tanzania.
- Medically fit to work in remote locations with limited medical facilities and able to maintain relevant vaccinations.
- Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Valid Tanzanian driving license (Class D or equivalent).
- Ability to drive manual transmission light vehicles.

Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in mining, resource, construction, or heavy industry.
- Greenfields exploration experience is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of working in hazardous industries and risk identification.
- Ability to establish community mapping and engagement processes.
- Awareness of cultural, community, and land access requirements.
- Understanding of applicable legislation and community management.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Safety
- Support and promote a proactive health and safety culture.
- Communicate incidents promptly to the Exploration Manager.
- Implement and enforce HSEC procedures to manage operations safely.
- Monitor and recommend improvements to enhance the HSEC management system.
- Identify and resolve emerging HSEC risks and issues.
Leadership
- Support the Exploration Manager in implementing the team’s vision and performance expectations.
- Ensure effective internal communication to maximize team efficiency.
- Review and improve HSEC systems and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and updated HSEC exploration data.
Planning
- Ensure all exploration activities comply with HSEC legislation.
- Develop and execute annual HSEC performance improvement plans.
- Coordinate with contractors to ensure HSEC onboarding and compliance.
- Provide monthly HSEC reports and performance updates.
- Support the development of long-term HSEC frameworks and strategies.
Technical
- Provide professional HSEC advice to management.
- Integrate HSEC factors into all business decisions.
- Conduct audits, meetings, and training to enhance awareness.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance.
- Lead investigations and ensure transparent reporting of incidents.
- Manage systems for HSEC data capture and visualization of key metrics.
Corporate Governance
- Ensure all required permits, certifications, and licenses are maintained.
- Reinforce adherence to company values, policies, and statutory obligations.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, and community regulations.
- Manage costs in accordance with budget controls.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to adapt to remote working and living conditions.
- Willingness to undertake senior first aid training.
- Fluency in English and Swahili.
