Position Overview

The Finance Officer will oversee the company’s day-to-day financial operations, maintain accurate financial records, prepare management reports, and support sound financial decision-making. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach to finance management within a dynamic tourism environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular account reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and monitoring budgetary compliance.
  • Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Monitor client, agent, and corporate partner receivables to ensure timely collections.
  • Manage daily cash flow and monitor bank balances to support operational needs.
  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements and other financial reports.
  • Support internal and external audit processes and implement audit recommendations.
  • Record income from tour packages, ticketing, hotel bookings, and other services.
  • Prepare and submit monthly tax returns (VAT, Withholding Tax, etc.) and ensure timely tax payments.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align financial management with business goals.
  • Maintain updated schedules for trade debtors, creditors, and staff imprest accounts.
  • Manage petty cash and ensure timely reconciliations and replenishments.
  • Process approved payment requisitions promptly and accurately.
  • Support management in cost control, pricing, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with TRA, BRELA, OSHA, and other statutory requirements.
  • Continuously review and improve finance systems and processes, leveraging automation where possible.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the travel, tourism, or hospitality sector.
  • Experience working in a tour operating company or travel agency is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
  • Proven ability to handle audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory filings.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Odoo, Tally, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
