Position Title: Dispatch Data Analyst

Job Type: Full-time

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking to recruit a Dispatch Data Analyst to join and grow our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, automate, and maintain FMS databases and dashboards for performance monitoring
  • Develop and configure data visualizations (Power BI/Tableau) to support operational decisions
  • Validate, clean, and align FMS data with mine survey records and production plans
  • Create and maintain automation scripts using Python or Bash for diagnostics and alerts
  • Generate and improve production reports to ensure data-driven decision-making
  • Configure FMS terminals and enable end-users to generate independent reports
  • Support management decision-making through data trend analysis and forecasting
  • Maintain functionality of all dispatch-related hardware including in-cab units, radios, and monitoring screens
  • Manage hardware inventory and coordinate repairs or replacements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and network issues affecting data transmission
  • Support integration of auxiliary systems such as fatigue monitoring and MineStar Health
  • Lead or support network extensions for pit expansions and operational coverage
  • Monitor equipment utilization, compliance, and fleet efficiency using system data
  • Identify and address inefficiencies such as misroutes or idle times
  • Implement system updates and coordinate rollouts of new modules or features
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and data governance standards
  • Liaise with vendors, IT, and supply chain teams for contract management
  • Plan and oversee preventive maintenance for system hardware and infrastructure
  • Train dispatchers and operators on system functionality and reporting tools
  • Maintain technical documentation including system architecture and change logs

Health, Safety, and Environment

  • Ensure personnel follow workplace safety rules and critical procedures
  • Report and investigate all incidents, accidents, and unsafe conditions
  • Use personal protective equipment as required and report defects immediately
  • Promote environmentally sound practices and ensure compliance with mine policies
  • Report environmental incidents and assist in mitigation and corrective actions
  • Encourage responsible waste disposal, resource conservation, and spill prevention

Financial Responsibilities

  • Identify cost improvement opportunities and develop related action plans
  • Ensure efficient use of resources and accurate tracking of parts and consumables
  • Monitor KPIs, system uptime, and hardware utilization for cost control
  • Prepare regular reports for the Department Manager highlighting performance and improvements

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related ICT field

Experience and Competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing real-time relational databases in operational environments
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL)
  • Hands-on experience with Python for data automation, ETL, and database operations
  • Skilled in developing dashboards with Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience maintaining and optimizing high-availability data systems
  • Familiarity with backend Fleet Management Systems (FMS) or similar technologies
  • Experience troubleshooting database connectivity, replication, and network issues
  • Understanding of integrated operational systems (e.g., Vision Link, telemetry systems)
  • Ability to configure and support communication infrastructure (Wi-Fi, switches, repeaters)
  • Valid Tanzanian driving license or ability to obtain one
  • Physically fit and capable of passing mine-site medical assessment
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Commitment to HSE best practices and mining safety regulations
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Technical Skills:

  • Database systems, programming (Python, SQL), and data analysis
  • Knowledge of data warehousing, system integration, and business intelligence tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities
