Global Leaf Tanzania Limited (GLT) is a registered company engaged in buying and selling tobacco both locally and internationally. Established in September 2023, GLT operates primarily in the Shinyanga and Tabora regions. As a growing company in the tobacco industry, GLT invites motivated professionals to join and grow with them.
The company is currently seeking to recruit a Logistics Manager.
The role involves overseeing and managing all logistics activities within the company, ensuring efficient operations, compliance with regulations, and timely reporting to management.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and manage shipping instructions from Head Office and coordinate with teams to ensure proper shipment stuffing in line with standard requirements.
- Follow up on customs clearance for imports and exports by liaising with clearing agents, shipping lines, and ensuring proper warehousing and delivery as per customs laws.
- Liaise with government bodies and agencies providing Pre-Export Verification of Conformity to Standards (PVoC) for imports and exports.
- Arrange inspections for imports and exports requiring Certificates of Conformity (CoC) and ensure compliance with local and international standards.
- Review and verify shipping documents (Bills of Lading, Waybills, invoices, and certificates) for accuracy and compliance with international trade terms (INCOTERMS).
- Draft correspondences to relevant government agencies for required import or export approvals.
- Process and renew Customs Bonds annually for temporarily imported tobacco.
- Prepare accountability reports for temporarily imported tobacco and ensure timely submission to relevant agencies.
- Liaise with management for importation permissions of tobacco inputs (fertilizers, chemicals, etc.) and submission of sponsorship applications to relevant ministries.
- Coordinate with Administration and Finance departments to ensure insurance policies (motor, workers compensation, goods in transit, etc.) are up to date and claims are processed promptly.
- Supervise, train, and guide logistics staff on supply chain management processes.
- Collaborate with sister companies to ensure smooth logistics and supply chain operations.
- Oversee customs declarations, ensure timely clearance of shipments, and prevent demurrage charges.
- Ensure all company licenses are valid, renewed on time, and payments made promptly.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in logistics or supply chain management within the private sector.
- Strong understanding of international trade terms (INCOTERMS) and global logistics practices.
- Knowledge of financial management, procurement, and project management.
- Strong coordination, supervision, and operational management skills.
- Excellent communication and computer skills.
- Willingness to work extra hours when required.
