Position: Process Control & Instrumentation Technician

Key Purpose of the Role:

To optimize and modify process control systems, support the installation of process control and related electrical systems, and maintain, calibrate, and repair equipment. The role ensures the optimization of plant operations and associated devices to maximize availability and maintain high product quality.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Safety and Environment

  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Comply with all safety, health, and environmental procedures and legislation.
  • Ensure safety and housekeeping standards are consistently met.

Equipment Maintenance and Optimization

  • Locate plant, equipment, spares, and relevant documentation or systems.
  • Plan, prepare, and carry out repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair equipment to optimize plant performance.
  • Continuously improve plant and process equipment and systems.
  • Operate plant and process equipment efficiently.
  • Calibrate instruments and perform approved basic software changes in PLCs.
  • Support projects, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.

Teamwork and Communication

  • Communicate effectively within teams.
  • Contribute to both personal and team development.

Problem Solving

  • Use loss and waste analysis to identify operational problems.
  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques to address issues promptly.

VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization) Principles

  • Apply 5S standards and practices in the workplace.
  • Operate and control processes according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in and coach autonomous operations.
  • Support quality at source.
  • Continuously improve personal competence and flexibility.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (added advantage).
  • 2–3 years of experience in routine electrical and instrumentation maintenance in packaging, brewing, or utilities plants.
