Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer, operating a single mine in the Geita Region. The mine lies within the Lake Victoria Gold Fields, approximately 120 km from Mwanza and 5 km west of Geita Town.

Purpose of the Role:
To lead and supervise a team of underground mechanics, ensuring all underground equipment is maintained efficiently, safely, and in accordance with planned maintenance schedules and operational requirements.
Qualifications:
- Certificate of Secondary Education.
- VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One/Level Three in Mechanic.
- Valid Tanzanian driving license.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with underground mining equipment (Sandvik and CAT machinery preferred).
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong problem-solving skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience maintaining and repairing mining equipment.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with standard software applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership, coaching, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a challenging underground environment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Supervise and train underground mechanics in daily operations.
- Ensure maintenance tasks meet safety, quality, and operational standards.
- Conduct thorough shift handovers and maintain accurate shift reports.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
- Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards in all work areas.
- Support continuous improvement and performance-driven culture within the department.
- Perform quality checks to verify the success of maintenance and repair work.
- Maintain effective communication with upper management and other departments.
