Job Location: Head Office, HQ
Job Purpose:
Responsible for driving treasury back-office operations effectively and efficiently. The role involves coordinating treasury strategy from an operational perspective, ensuring well-designed control processes for deal validation, documentation, and accounting in compliance with bank policies and regulatory guidelines.
Main Responsibilities:
- Oversee control procedures related to Treasury Operations, Treasury Management System (TMS), and Core Banking System (CBS).
- Champion process reengineering to enhance efficiency, risk management, and internal controls.
- Participate in working groups and project teams as a subject matter expert on treasury procedures and controls.
- Translate operational and tactical business needs into functional and technical specifications.
- Serve as a liaison between Treasury Front Office, Market Risk, Technology teams, and other units to ensure timely settlement and issue resolution.
- Manage relationships with correspondent banks, support liquidity management, and oversee the opening of Nostro accounts.
- Manage internal and external audit engagements related to Treasury.
- Maintain and champion the Treasury Business Continuity Plan and Treasury Risk Register.
- Act as an escalation point for unresolved treasury settlement and reconciliation issues.
- Drive process improvement, automation, and elimination of non-value-adding activities.
- Provide thought leadership to align operations with strategic business objectives.
- Identify opportunities for improving process quality and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee settlement processing, confirmations, and support liquidity management, ensuring the success of all critical treasury operational activities.
- Lead and participate in project planning, resource coordination, UATs, implementation, and closure for projects impacting Treasury Operations.
- Report on day-to-day treasury back-office activities and maintain best-in-class processes, procedures, and controls.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of Treasury Business, Core Banking Systems, Banking Policies, and Central Bank regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of treasury controls, compliance, and ethical standards in both dealing and operational functions.
- Good understanding of treasury products, accounting implications, and their link to business strategy and risk management.
- Experience with Treasury Management Systems, SWIFT, CBS, CDS, and IBCM systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Customer-focused, quality-oriented, and proactive in driving change.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, ICT, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, MIS, or a related field.
- ACI certification required.
- Professional qualifications or enrollment with professional boards will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Treasury Operations.
