Role Profile: Distribution Development Manager

Role Purpose:

The Distribution Development Manager is responsible for developing and operationalizing new sales and distribution channels while modernizing existing ones through automation and digitization. The role includes Product Ownership of the DMS Agile Squad to drive innovative distribution solutions. The Manager will lead commercialization strategies for new and underperforming sites, ensuring expected performance results, while collaborating with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to streamline processes and strengthen the distribution ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement operational plans for new airtime channels, ensuring modernization, efficiency, and alignment with Vodacom’s strategy.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Next Best Action (NBA) tool through the Agile Squad to meet evolving market needs.
  • Lead planning and execution of activities to ensure new and underperforming sites achieve expected results.
  • Provide competitor insights, conduct performance evaluations, and deliver timely reports to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications, Competencies, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Degree in Sales & Marketing or Business Administration (MBA is an added advantage).
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications industry trends, with a commercial orientation.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading operations teams (distribution or service operations) in mobile or retail-intensive B2C industries with significant service components.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced to intermediate Excel skills.
  • Strong business finance and budget management skills, combined with solid marketing acumen.
  • Courage to challenge the status quo and drive change effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with a customer-centric approach.
  • Results-driven, proactive, and resilient under pressure with a strong “can-do” attitude.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, and ability to manage confidential information.
