There is a fantastic opportunity in the Manufacturing Department of Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd. For a Unit Manager-Packaging role headquartered in Dar es Salaam, we are seeking a skilled candidate with the necessary manufacturing experience and skills. The Manufacturing Manager will receive direct reports from the chosen applicant.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1. To create and share a business plan every year in order to ensure that the department’s goals and direction are best planned, carried out, and tracked in accordance with CCBA’s strategic goals.

  • Every year, business is created in accordance with benchmark rules and strategic imperatives.
  • Plans for production, quality, the use of raw materials, personnel development, unit structure, proposed projects, schedules, and technology/equipment are all included in a business plan.
  • World-class principles are supported by the business plan.

 2. To jointly establish performance objectives so that team members are aware of, comprehend, and capable of cooperating to achieve shared objectives and objectives

  • Performance objectives align with the business plan, prior performance, and context difficulties.
  • Every year, performance goals are created and approved in collaboration with team leaders and management.
  • Customers, line utilization, raw material utilization, and quality performance goals (product and package) are all included in the performance goals.

3. To lead World Class Maturity (WCM) projects on one’s own

  • Oversees the change management procedures for WCM.
  • Creates plans for work practice deployment and makes sure they are carried out.
  • Regularly evaluates the maturity of work practices to make sure that best practices are being implemented and ingrained.
  • Best practices for benchmarking, both internal and external

4. To oversee and assist team leaders and the team in meeting cost-effective production, maintenance, and quality goals

  • Every day, Team Leaders discuss, clarify, and take action regarding deviations from the production, maintenance, quality, safety, and housekeeping plans.
  • For each machine and activity (operational, maintenance, safety, quality, sanitation, housekeeping, etc.), work instructions are available and updated as needed.
  • Work instruction deviations are continuously discussed and corrected with team leaders.

5. To create and oversee capital and expense budgets in order to efficiently prepare for and manage spending within financial constraints

  • Capital and expense budgets are created in accordance with the business plan, production budget, and financial criteria.
  • Every expense item is included in the budget according to the expense format.
  • Benchmark-driven budgeting

Skills, Experience & Education:

A minimum degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or industrial) is required, as well as three to five years of experience as a maintenance controller or packing specialist, as well as production and leadership experience in an FMCG setting. Strong analytical abilities, a proven high degree of integrity, strong leadership traits, and effective communication skills.
