Laboratory Technologists (3 Posts)

Reports to: Laboratory Manager / Study Coordinator
Location: Dar es Salaam

In order to support this endeavor, MUHAS is seeking eligible candidates to apply for three (3) Laboratory Technologists posts located in Dar es Salaam.

Position Description:

Managing all laboratory-related tasks, such as sample collection, processing, and transportation to the MUHAS Clinical Research Laboratory (MCRL) for testing and/or storage, will fall under the purview of the Laboratory Technologists employed at study clinics in Dar es Salaam.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Gather participant samples in accordance with established protocols.
Make that samples are handled correctly and stored safely at all times.
Assemble the chemicals needed for standard sample processing.
Follow the guidelines for conducting laboratory tests.
Verify that every piece of lab equipment is operating properly and report any issues right away.
Keep thorough records of every sample that is gathered, processed, and transported on a daily basis.
As needed, assist and collaborate with other members of the research team.
Complete any additional study-related assignments that the supervisor gives you.

Qualifications and Experience:

Medical Laboratory Science/Technology bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
A current Health Laboratory Practitioners Council registration.
Two years or more of related job experie:nce.

Skills and Competencies:

Competent in gathering and processing blood samples.
Strong data handling and organizing skills.
Understanding of GCLP, or good clinical and laboratory practices.
The capacity to efficiently multitask without sacrificing the caliber of one’s work.

Duration:

The contract will be for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funds.
