SUA Courses (Programmes) Offered

Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) offers two certificates, six diploma degrees, and 39 bachelor’s degree programs through its departments, colleges, and schools. The following is a list of SUA undergraduate programs that lead to the granting of bachelor’s, master’s, and certificate degrees. Comprehensive information about the structures of each unit and program can be found on their websites and in this prospectus.

Sokoine University of Agriculture offers diplomas in two years (four semesters), certificates in one year (two semesters), and bachelor’s degrees in three years (six semesters). The Bachelor of Bioprocess and Post-Harvest Engineering and the Bachelor of Irrigation and Water Resources Engineering programs are four years (8 semesters) long, whereas the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree is five years (10 semesters). All of the programs are offered full-time.

When to apply

Every year, between June and July, qualified candidates are asked to apply. Those who are accepted are contacted in September or October after the university reviews and approves their applications. October or November marks the start of the academic year.

Registration into the Programmes:

After paying the required fees and obtaining national health insurance, admitted students have two weeks from the beginning of the academic year to register for their programs using the online self-registration module in the SUA Student Information System (SUASIS).

Course Registration:

To earn the required amount of credit hours, students must enroll in Core and Elective courses designed specifically for their programs within the first two weeks of each semester. After completing this process, you are now ready to embark on an amazing academic experience at SUA.

How to apply for admission

Candidates should use the online admissions system to apply directly to SUA. Visit www.sua.ac.tz/apply to receive step-by-step instructions.

Non-Tanzanian applicants are advised to provide copies of their academic records and their application letter to admission@sua.ac.tz if their certificates were not issued by the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) or the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE).

Candidates with foreign secondary school degrees should arrange for an equivalency translation with the National Examinations Council (NECTA) and/or NACTE prior to submitting their applications. At any time before or throughout the application process, you can email the admissions office at admission@sua.ac.tz for any help or advice you need.
